AAPD implemented Sakai to convert its respected Summer Internship Program to a fully online program.

Sakai’s Role: Sakai LMS allowed AAPD to hold its 2021 Summer Internship completely online, due to the ongoing Covid pandemic. Sakai’s collaboration features enabled program interns to stay in touch, share documents, and learn from one another, and much more. AAPD’s Sakai instance is part of the LAMP Learning Consortium, which hosts Sakai LMS for small learning organizations across many industries and nonprofit sectors. The Sakai Community is proud of its strong commitment to accessibility.

Learn More about AAPD:

AAPD is a national cross-disability civil rights organization that works to increase the political and economic power of people with disabilities. In 2002, AAPD launched the Summer Internship Program to develop the next generation of leaders with disabilities. They place college students, graduate students, law students, and recent graduates with all types of disabilities in paid summer internships with Congressional offices, federal agencies, nonprofit and for-profit organizations within the Washington, DC area. During the summer, each intern is matched with a mentor who provides them with career guidance. They recruit a diverse cohort of interns, who serve as an emerging cohort of leaders with disabilities.
